Frequently Asked Questions

What Microsoft Operating Systems are supported?
Password Rotator runs on Windows 10 / Server 2016 or newer. We recommend using our free trial to check full compatibility with your environment.

What happens to the default Windows Administrator account?
Password Rotator does not modify the default Administrator account. We strongly recommend disabling it as it is a well-known target for attacks.

What name should I choose for the local admin account?
Choose a name that is not common or conflicts with the default Administrator account. Please adhere to Microsoft's minimum account name requirements.

What happens if a client is deleted from the Web-App?
The Password Rotator Service will unregister on the next check. The local account remains with its last password. Manual uninstallation and account deletion is required if needed.

What happens if the service is removed from a device?
The device stops reporting and rotating passwords. Data remains in the Web-App until manually deleted. The local account and password persist on the device.

Do you support passkeys?
Yes. Password Rotator fully supports passkeys for signing in to the Web-App — phishing-resistant, passwordless authentication with no shared secrets to steal. Passkeys work alongside or in place of traditional MFA.
